February….the month of love and celebrating BLACK!

In honor of Black History Month, I would like to show candid photography and art of the African American culture.   The above picture (minus my cutouts of cupcakes) is a infamous black & white portrait.  When I first saw it, I was immediately captivated by the rawness of it.  Five, young black boys in their church clothes, seemingly after church service, lounging on a car in cavalier-fashion in a shopping district.  Taken in 1941 by an anonymous photographer, it is entitled “Southside Chicago, Sunday Best”.   It does have a Gordon Parks essence to it, but whomever took this captivating photo, captured the innocence of childhood and nostalgia of the Renaissance era.   Plug “Sunday” at checkout when ordering at www.keshajobakes.com for a 10% discount this week!
